Belorussia, also known as Ruthenia or White Ruthenia, is a country in Eastern Europe. It borders the United Baltic Duchy to the north, Russia to the east, Ukraine to the southeast, Galicia-Lodomeria (part of Austria-Hungary) to the south, Poland to the southwest and Lithuania to the west.

History

The Kingdom was preliminarily set up on the premises of the Belorussian People's Republic, that, like their counterpart in the Ukraine, declared themselves independent from Russia along ethnographic lines following the successful conclusion of the Weltkrieg and the collapse of Russian power. The lack of a historic Belorussian state and the chaos ensuing, lead Germany to establish the Kingdom of 'White Ruthenia. Despite the lack of a historic identity the legitimacy of the new state was secured during the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II’s brother Heinrich, who used the strong constitutional Royal prerogatives to promote land reform, education programs, and balance the interests of the various factions within his Kingdom.

Unfortunately upon Heinrich’s death in 1929 the throne passed to his son Waldemar, who has not been able to live up to the standards set by his father. In 1936 Weißruthenien is an increasingly divided society and the young kingdom appears to be approaching a crisis as power slips away from the legitimate monarch to his younger brother Sigismund, who has managed built up a formidable power base through the ‘National Security Services’ and various Belorussian extremist groups unhappy with the current situation.
